The Sterling Miniload

Digger Blogger | 10:00, Thu August 21 2025

The Sterling Miniload is a compact beavertail plant body, purpose-built for light-duty plant transport in tight-access urban environments.

Sterling’s newest trailer body, compatible with chassis from 7.2 to 14 tonnes, is designed to meet demand for inner-city and short-haul plant movement.

Sterling says that the new Miniload is lightweight, but not light-duty. With the same engineering standards as Sterling’s larger builds and heavy-duty low-profile crossmembers, 300mm spacing, and a double-bend beavertail, it can safely handle compact machinery like mini excavators, scissor lifts, tracked dumpers and compressors.

It also includes a double-bend beavertail and safety-first ramp design to protect operators and machinery on uneven or restricted sites.

One of the first customers is Essex-based Orbital Equipment Ltd, which operates a fleet of more than 700 machines ranging from one-tonne dumpers to 35-tonne excavators.

Orbital has a Sterling Miniload body mounted on a Daf XB 320 4x2 12-tonne chassis

With increasing work in housing developments and local authority projects, Orbital required a robust, lightweight solution for transporting compact plant to inner-city construction and residential sites. The Sterling Miniload offers the perfect combination of mobility, performance and safety.
