Established in 1947, Lignacite is a family-owned British manufacturer of high-quality concrete blocks, known for blending heritage with innovation. With more than 75 years of experience, we’ve played a key role in shaping some of the UK’s most iconic buildings, from The Shard and The Gherkin to modern residential developments and public infrastructure projects.

Coursing Blocks

All of our masonry blocks are rigorously tested and fully compliant with British Standards. They are Class A1 fire-rated, offering the highest level of fire resistance, and deliver excellent sound insulation and thermal performance. As a result, they are suitable for a wide range of applications from housing and schools to commercial and high-rise developments. A variety of compressive strengths is available across the range, ensuring the right balance of structural performance and design flexibility.

To support sustainability goals and specification requirements, independently verified Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) from EPD Hub are available for all products via our website.

Introducing the Lignacite ECO Range

The Lignacite ECO Range is the result of extensive research and development into sustainable construction solutions. Developed in partnership with clients and environmental consultants, the range includes up to 70% recycled content and is supported by independently verified EPDs. These provide transparent, third-party-verified data to support sustainability assessments such as BREEAM.

The recycled materials used in the Lignacite ECO Range have also been independently verified by Blue Marble, ensuring our environmental claims are robust and evidenced. Available in 100mm and 140mm formats, the range allows contractors and developers to reduce the embodied carbon of their buildings without compromising on performance or durability.

Launched in 2025, the ECO Range builds on our long-standing commitment to sustainability. For decades, we’ve pioneered the use of recycled aggregates in concrete block manufacture, incorporating materials such as wood particles, sand and ash into our admixtures. The Lignacite ECO Range represents the next step in that journey, helping the construction industry transition to low-carbon construction.

Sustainability is embedded across our operations. Alongside our low-carbon product innovations, we’ve invested in responsible manufacturing practices and greener logistics.

Our state-of-the-art factory in Brandon was designed with sustainability at its core. The facility incorporates a range of environmentally conscious features, including solar panels, low-energy lighting, and energy-efficient plant and equipment. These upgrades reduce operational emissions and support more efficient production, lowering the carbon footprint of our blocks.

Our entire delivery fleet is Euro 6 compliant and FORS Gold accredited, enabling us to service even the most congested urban sites – including central London – efficiently and responsibly. We also offer delivery to London locations using HVO-fuelled vehicles from our Nazeing plant, reducing transport emissions even further.

We are also one of only a few block manufacturers to hold ISO 27001, the leading international standard for Information Security Management Systems (ISMS).
