The contractor has started work on the scheme, which involves the construction of the school and associated facilities at Cambridge’s Clay Farm development.
The project involves building flexible classrooms around a central atrium, alongside a community sports hall and associated changing facilities. There are also a number of external works, including the installation of two multi-use games pitches and grass-seeded playing fields that will be open to the public.Â
The college will have a focus on science and technology. Construction is scheduled to complete in spring 2016.
Morgan Sindall area director Bob Ensch said: “The scheme incorporates some great sustainable technology set within a spacious, light contemporary school building. It’s fantastic to be working with the project team to create this inspiring space and we look forward to delivering an outstanding building next year.â€
The school is designed to achieve a BREEAM rating of Very Good, with photovoltaic panels and ground source heat pumps.
