Contract agreement brings Skipton development closer

11 May 11 Housebuilder Lovell and property developer Maple Grove have formally signed an agreement with Craven District Council on a £40m building project in Skipton.

The long-standing plans for the Dales market town are now getting closer to the starting line for construction. Maple Grove Developments will demolish a high street building and replace it with a retail arcade, while Lovell will build 220 homes.

Lovell’s element is valued at £28m.

Lovell and Maple Grove were selected by the council as its development partners in 2009.

Paul Smith, chief executive of Lovell’s parent company, Morgan Sindall Group, said: "Lovell continues to make progress developing its market-leading position in the affordable housing arena with this latest deal, one of a number we have already secured this year. We look forward to working with Maple Grove and Craven District Council to deliver the development."
