Clancy starts £10m Haringey mains renewal

2 hours Civil engineering contractor Clancy starts work this month on a £10m upgrade of Thames Water mains in Crouch End.

More than 8km of ageing water pipes are being replaced by Thames Water in the borough of Haringey to reduce leakage and the likelihood of supply interruptions in the future. 聽The area has been susceptible to several burst pipes over the last few years.

Work will be carried out by Clancy on 29 different streets over the next two years, starting with The Broadway, Crouch Hill, Ridge Road and Oakington Way in February.

Thames Water senior project manager Tom Hutchinson said:聽 鈥淲e have a long-term commitment to improving infrastructure resilience and we鈥檝e been targeting the areas that need upgrading the most, first. It's vital that people have confidence in their water supply and this investment will make a big difference to the area.鈥

Cllr Seema Chandwani, Haringey Council鈥檚 cabinet member for resident services and tackling inequality, said:聽 鈥淭his two鈥憏ear programme will significantly improve areas across the borough and deliver the standard of service our residents rightly deserve. We鈥檝e worked closely with Thames Water to ensure that as little disruption as possible occurs during the work.鈥

Clancy construction manager Jack Lahr said: 鈥淎s the water industry works to improve its resilience and deals with greater demands on its services, we are delighted to support these goals.聽 Our commitment to excellence, innovation, and collaborative growth will continue to be the driving force in this project and in our relationship with Thames Water.鈥澛
