Site Manager (Education & Commercial experience)
Daniel Owen are currently seeking an experienced Freelance Site Manager to oversee the successful delivery of an education sector fit-out project in Coventry. This is an excellent opportunity to work with a well-established and reputable main contractor with a strong track record of delivering high-quality education and commercial environments across the Midlands.
Position: Site Manager
Location: Birmingham
Rate: £270.00 - £300.00 per day (CIS/Umbrella)
Contract: First project 12 weeks. Ongoing work thereafter
Start Date: March
The Role:
Reporting to the Project/Contracts Manager, you will take full responsibility for day-to-day site management, ensuring the project is delivered safely, on programme, within budget and to the highest quality standards. The scheme involves a live education environment, so experience working within occupied buildings and maintaining strict safety and safeguarding standards is essential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee daily site operations and ensure full compliance with H&S legislation and company procedures
- Manage and coordinate subcontractors, suppliers and direct labour to meet programme milestones
- Maintain site records including RAMS, daily diaries, progress reports and H&S documentation
- Chair and attend site meetings, liaising closely with clients, consultants and internal teams
- Monitor programme progress, proactively identifying and resolving issues
- Ensure quality control procedures are implemented and works are completed to specification
- Manage snagging processes and ensure a smooth, defect-free handover
- Promote a professional site presence and maintain strong client relationships
Candidate Requirements:
- Proven experience delivering education and/or commercial fit-out projects
- Experience working within live or occupied environments (desirable)
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to drive programme and standards on site
- Excellent organisational, communication and problem-solving abilities
- SMSTS
- CSCS (Black or Gold Card)
- First Aid at Work
- Fire Marshal certification
